Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Estimator specializing in vessel refit, repair, and fabrication services. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in marine engineering and cost analysis, particularly in technical and electrical refits, as well as the fabrication of sea fastening and other steel structures. This role will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our project bids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for vessel refit and repair projects, focusing on technical and electrical refits.
  • Prepare estimates and quotes for fabrication services related to sea fastening and other steel structures.
  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and requirements to provide precise cost projections.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary information for estimates.
  • Conduct detailed market research to assess material, labour, and equipment costs.
  • Maintain a database of historical cost data for reference and benchmarking.
  • Monitor project budgets and assist in cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports, estimates, and proposals to stakeholders.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose solutions to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to vessel refits, repairs, and fabrication.

Qualifications:

  • (preferably) Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a cost estimator, with a focus on vessel refit, repair, and fabrication services.
  • Proven experience in the fabrication of sea fastening and steel structures is essential.
  • Proven experience in both technical and electrical refits is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in estimation software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
